Kazi Mostafa Rumi: “A politician is the one who thinks about the next election, and the one who thinks about the next generation is the statesman.” The general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, Obaidul Quader, said this repeatedly on various occasions. He said this to define the five-time prime minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina. Sheikh Hasina is the current Prime Minister of Bangladesh and Chairperson of Bangladesh Awami League. Who has been leading the largest organization of Bangladesh like this country and Awami League with great success. The reasons for his success that can be clearly identified are that he set goals for the success and development of Bangladesh, avoiding all obstacles and reaching that goal.

Acting as per the promise given to the people and risking his life for the overall development of this country. He not only sets a goal and completes the task, he does not give up on the task until it is achieved and successfully completed. No matter how many obstacles come in the way. Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman made this country free, he spent precious time of his life in the dark cell of the prison to pave the way for this freedom but he made this country free. Sheikh Hasina is also working relentlessly for the development of this country and the realization of people’s rights despite ignoring the bloody eyes of the whole world.

Sheikh Hasina is the eldest of the five children of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangama Begum Fazilatunnessa Mujib. He was born on 28 September 1947 in Tungipara of Gopalganj district. Sheikh Hasina’s education began in a school in Tungipara. In 1954, when Bangabandhu was elected as a member of the Provincial Council, he moved to a rented house on Rajni Bose Lane in Old Dhaka with his family. When Bangabandhu became a member of the United Front Cabinet, the family started living at No. 3 Minto Road. Sheikh Hasina was admitted to Tikatuli Women’s Education Temple. She passed her secondary from Azimpur Girls’ School in 1965 and her higher secondary from Intermediate Girls’ College (now Badrunnesa College) in 1967.

In the same year, he was admitted to Dhaka University with honors in Bengali language and literature and received his bachelor’s degree in 1973. She was elected the vice-president of the student council while studying at the Intermediate Girls’ College. He was a member of Dhaka University Chhatra League and general secretary of Rokeya Hall branch.

Despite being the daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, she directly involved herself in the anti-Pakistan and anti-Ayub movement at that time. He directly joined student politics. She is not Sheikh Mujib’s daughter, but got several positions with her organizational skills. Who can stop the one who has politics in his veins? In 1966, when she was an intermediate student, she started the movement to demand six points directly from the college. From his student life he actively participated in all mass movements.

As the leader of Chhatra League, she actively participated in the anti-Ayub movement and the six-point movement. While Bangabandhu was in jail in the Agartala conspiracy case in 1968, nuclear scientist Dr. Sheikh Hasina is married to Wazed Mia. On the night of March 25, 1971, Bangabandhu was arrested and taken to Karachi, Pakistan, and the entire family was kept under house arrest in a house in Dhaka. During the liberation war, her first child Sajeeb Wazed Joy was born on July 27, 1971 under house arrest. On December 9, 1972, daughter Puthul was born.

Before Bangabandhu was killed in the family in 1975, Sheikh Hasina went to Europe with her younger sister Sheikh Rehana. While staying there, he got the news that Bangabandhu was killed in his family. As there was no environment to return home immediately, she left Europe and took political asylum in India with her husband and children. He was elected as party president at the conference held on 13-15 February 1981. He returned to Bangladesh after ending his exile on May 17 of that year.

After returning to the country in 1981, his struggling life began. In this context, Abdul Matin, the author of the book “Sheikh Hasina A Political Essay” mentioned at the beginning of his speech – “When Sheikh Hasina was elected as the president of Bangladesh Awami League in 1981, some people thought that she would only play the role of interim president. They thought that in the near future, after the relatively inexperienced Sheikh Hasina proved unable to provide strong leadership against the military junta, Praveen would retire from political life handing over the responsibilities to a senior leader. But leaving behind all their criticisms and thoughts, he united the divided Awami League and reached his desired goal.

Randolph Women’s College, USA conferred on Sheikh Hasina the prestigious Pearl S. Buck Award-1999 on April 9, 2000, in recognition of her foresight, courage and achievements in political, economic and humanitarian fields. Sheikh Hasina has also been awarded numerous other awards and degrees.

After that the Sheikh Hasina government was the only government that peacefully handed over power to the caretaker government. After that, the five-year BNP-Jamaat coalition government created a massive public opinion against repression. His life has been attacked several times. The grenade attack of 21 August 2004 was one of them. In this attack, 24 Awami League leaders and activists were killed and about 500 leaders and activists were injured. Sheikh Hasina herself was seriously injured in this attack. After that, Sheikh Hasina had to be imprisoned in 2007 military rule and false case. There was also a plot to kill him by slow poisoning in prison. He was subjected to inhumane torture in solitary confinement. Then in the 2008 national elections, the people of this country gave him the responsibility of governing the country. Since then till today, he is taking the country to the highest peak of development by forming the government repeatedly with the mandate of the people.

He begins the day by offering Tahajjud and Fajr prayers. He is religious but does not condone fanaticism. He rose above all narrowness and worked to establish a liberal and welfare state. He continues to struggle even today. This struggle is a struggle for economic, social and cultural liberation. Struggle to build a progressive happy, prosperous Sonar Bengal. Conspiratorial and communal forces are not sitting still but will be defeated time and again by this fearless, fearless, courageous, indomitable leader.

On behalf of Swadesh Kantha Pratidin, the widely publicized and popular online news portal of Bangladesh, we wish this undisputed leader of Bangladesh good health and long life.
